Day. 2 - Mt Seymour
We decided on a little longer ride that was a bit less technical and faster. So to Mt. Seymour we went. After waiting in the parking lot for Gary and Bill, who were on Aussi time, we finally started off. Up the trail (see there are EASY trails here) with our big group of 12 or so riders.
Our first trail was Corkscrew, where the NSMBA spent a day doing some trail maintenance. One of the fixes was this A-Frame. This is Conan, who used to live in Vancouver who know lives in Tempe, about 20 minutes from South Mountain Park. Despite having ridden in Arizona, where there is no wood to create from, he can still clean the North Shore obstacles. Notice the forks...
This is the same A frame descent from another angle. Even Australian transplants can ride this stuff!!!
If the A-frame didn't present a challenge for you, you could follow LeeL down the fallen
log
For those who would rather check out Leel's little bum bum elegantly jaunt over the log;
The main challenges of shore riding is that obstacles come at you
relentlessly.
I will take this time to show a progression of 'ITEMS' that must be ridden on this
trail....
First you must go over a fallen log
Then you must get onto the ramp
Once you go down the ramp
You must then drop off another drop
Aussie Bill has taken very well to our trails, after riding Ladies Only the night before, this was NOTHING!!
Once out of the trail we then did Pangour, a steep but not as technical trail. This is me coming out, notice my NEW Magura brakes? This is what happens when you have a boyfriend who rides and wants to constantly upgrade your bike. Thanks LEE!! Your are so GREAT!
We then got to the top of Neds for a power bar break
We start off down Neds, which is not very technical, but FAST!
But it does offer some interesting terrain
Here Lee is trying to pass Conan over some roots, maybe he should take off his shocks and put on rigid forks!
Leel, not to pass up an opportunity, shows us how it's done
After 5 hours of riding we then head to the Raven, one of the BEST pubs in the North Shore if not Vancouver. They have great burgers, pizza and nacho's and a GREAT selection of beer!
We didn't want Bill and Gary to feel too far from home, and since it is winter in Australia we gave him a taste of snow on Mt. Seymour. The guys played frisbee in the snow wearing snowshoes and we saw two blackbears!! Unfortunately we couldn't convince Bill to get close to the bears to take a picture. Gary commented that he liked the Austalian large animals better, the Roo's won't try to eat you.
