Capitol Reef – Hiking in Utah

Capitol Reef – Utah Hiking Trip

Trip Overview || Timpanogos || Escalante || Peekaboo and Spooky || Tropic || Kanarraville || St George

The Noor Hotel in Torrey has a great view and easy access to the town and Capitol Reef National Park. We hung out most of the day watching the snow fall, once it finally stopped, we did a short hike in Capitol Reef National Park – Hickman Bridge – the weather was still uncooperative. We were going to do the Scenic Drive into Capitol Reef but it was closed due to weather. We went home and walked to the Rim Rock restaurant where we made a reservation and were treated to an amazing sunset.

The next day we did a big hike on Navajo Knobs. This hike starts at the Hickman Bridge trailhead and goes along the slickrock rim, 15.6km out and back, 810 elevation change. Worthy hike.

From there we drove over the Snowy Scenic Hwy 12. We were hoping to hike up Boulder Mountain but there was too much snow. GAIA can show you how many trails are in this area. So we just drove to Escalante where we stayed at the Inn of Escalante.
