Utah Biking May 2022
St George and the Mesas of Hurricane
La Grande/Boise || Richfield and Cedar City || Red Canyon || Escalante Hiking || Grand Junction and Navajo Rocks
We then headed south the St. George to visit Cimarron and Bryce before heading to the Mesa’s to ride and camp there again! For our riding on Grafton and Wire Mesa we camped on Gooseberry Mesa. St George is an easy 50min, 52 mile drive from Cedar City.
The trail network in St George is pretty vast and mostly xc. The Hurricane Mesa system includes Gooseberry Mesa which is about an hour drive, 40km from St. George. The riding here is unique. Wire Mesa is considered the easier of the mesa rides. We rode it counter clockwise. Grafton mesa has more technical trails ending with the classic Grafton Mesa DH. We did the trails on Grafton mesa in a South to North direction, then back on the road to do the other trails. Gooseberry and Little Creek have their own old school style. We didn’t ride the Huuicane cliff Jem trails but we hear they’re pretty good in the more xc vein.
