Central Washington – Wenatchee Okanogan September 2024
Day 1, 2 and 3.
The Nason Creek campground location was relatively quiet, close to SR207 so some traffic noise and had ok cell service, water and flush toilets with an electrical outlet. From here it was 30 min to Leavenworth, and 30 minutes up Chiwawa River Road for our second days ride. You could also camp up the Chiwawa River road, the sites have pit toilets and no water, or cell service.
Day 1 we wanted to check out the Leavenworth Ski area trails. The climb trail is really good. The descents are flowy with some stutter bumps. Seems like a popular destination. It was fun and the views were great.
Day 2 we headed up the Chiwawa River Road to ride the Basalt Ridge Loop. The Trans Cascadia group has been working hard to clear out these trails to create some epics. Keep looking at Trailforks for updates! We parked at the bottom of the Basalt Ridge Trail, road up the road, 1 hour up Rock Creek Trail, 1.5hrs up Rock Creek Tie Trail, another 1 hour ride/Push up Basalt Ridge trail to where it descends.
The last time we rode here we did the Minnow Ridge to Chikamin Creek OHV. There are now more potential epic loops in this area.
Day 3 we did the short hour and a half ride on Xanadu. This trail is not on Trailforks since it crosses private land, but it is on AllTrails and OpenStreetMap.
