Chilcotins Aug 2026
The last time we rode the Chilcotins was 2014
We figured it was time to go again! A big fire ripped through the area in 2023, so it would be interesting to see how things are coming back. We camped at the BC Hydro campground off Carpenter Lake Rd.
Day one we did the big ride – Gun Creek -> Jewel -> Spruce Lake-> Windy Pass->Lick Creek. 44km, 2000m Climbing in 9 hours!
Day two we didn’t feel like riding so we hiked up Cinnabar and ate blueberries.
Day three we did a short Lick Creek Loop to see how the actual Mountain bike trail faired after the fire. It was pretty soft and sandy.

Cinnabar Hike
The next day we hiked Cinnabar as an out and back. This would have been one of the trails in the loop we would have done. Taylor to Cinnabar. Next time.

Lick Creek Ride
The next day we did a short ride to check out Lick Creek.
